Getting fit by summer

Are you unhappy with your body? It’s our case! And we offer a multilateral solution.
Many of us dream of losing a few extra kilos when we look in the mirror. We are particularly critical of ourselves visually. The pronounced impairment of perception of one’s own body is known to be associated with mental disorders such as bulimia nervosa (overeating) and anorexia (starvation). Recent studies have revealed that a slender and athletic body type, which is socially approved and standard, can be an additional stress factor for people with excessive and even normal weight, exacerbating the psychological and social disadaptation of the individual.

On the other hand, studies of food addictions reveal that such disorders are related, inter alia, to the activity of various brain structures forming the motivational basis of behavior. In this case, the excess body weight has a high correlation with the abnormal activity of the brain fields responsible for feeling hungry and thirsty. In other words, it turns out that brain stimulation and psychotherapy perfectly complement each other! But if you really need to lose weight on medical authority, then stimulation is especially necessary, as recent scientific studies have revealed.

The group of neurophysiologists from Spain (the Research Institute of Barcelona) and Australia (University of Melbourne) has analyzed more than 50 studies conducted in 2017 and revealed that the method of stimulating the deep brain structures demonstrating such abnormal activity (deep brain stimulation — DBS) and the methods of the brain transcranial stimulation with a magnetic field and a direct current (transcranial direct current stimulation — tDCS, transcranial magnet stimulation — TMS) have a pronounced inhibitory effect on the overly active motivational centers of the nervous system and allow to significantly adjust nutrition in people with excess weight. Such impact on local neural networks has modulating effects, reducing the feeling of hunger through stimulation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex using the tDCS method and direct stimulation of the hypothalamus through invasive electrodes — DBS. It is noted that the method of brain non-invasive stimulation with a direct current is safe and an efficient analogue of the method of invasive stimulation of deep structures.
